Haikou is the first village that is reached after entering Checheng from the north and in earlier times was renowned for its “desert.” The dunes are no longer here as a result of illegal sand extraction by building companies.
Haikou has a visitor center providing travel information. The sunset over the ocean can be enjoyed from the sea wall and visitors can paddle on the beach below
