Machou Township is located in southeastern Taiwan. It has strange but beautiful coasts, diverse oceanic resources, and long-time culture and history.

Manzhou Township is located in the southeastern part of Taiwan, on the eastern side of the southern tip of Pingtung County and the eastern portion of the Hengchun Peninsula. It borders Mudan Township to the north and northwest, faces the Pacific Ocean to the east, adjoins Checheng Township to the west, and connects with Hengchun Township to the south and southwest.

The township boasts magnificent and distinctive coastal scenery, along with abundant and diverse marine resources, thanks to the Kuroshio Current, whose warm waters create rich fishing grounds. On land, the terminal branches of the Central Mountain Range extend into the township. As a result, although Manzhou is largely mountainous, its terrain is relatively gentle, with elevations all below 700 meters. Approximately one third of the township’s area has been designated as an Ecological Protection and Research Zone, highlighting the richness of its terrestrial and mountainous ecosystems. It is widely regarded as Taiwan’s most complete “natural academy.”

Climatically, Manzhou Township belongs to the tropical marine monsoon climate zone and is strongly influenced by seasonal monsoons. For example, one of the famous “Three Wonders of Hengchun,” the Luoshan Wind, predictably arrives in Manzhou Township from early October to the end of March each year . This phenomenon is the result of the combined effects of the northeastern monsoon and the local topography.
