2026 Xiaoliuqiu Land Crab Breeding Season Conservation Campaign

Release date:2026/06/01

From June to August every year, land crabs in Xiaoliuqiu migrate to the sea to spawn, making this their peak breeding season. To prevent roadkill incidents caused by vehicles striking crabs as they cross roads, nighttime road closures and traffic control measures are in effect. Visitors are requested to cooperate by taking alternative routes and entering the area on foot, as well as driving slowly and cautiously while traveling around the island to help protect the local ecosystem.

Control Period:
From 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily between June 8 and August 31, 2026 (subject to minor adjustments based on land crab activity and weather conditions).

Affected Road Section:
A full road closure will be in effect on County Road Ping 202 (屏202線) between kilometer markers 10K+500 and 11K+710.

Traffic Control Measures:
The affected section will be closed to all vehicular traffic and open only to pedestrians. Barricades and traffic control personnel will be stationed on-site. Except for official vehicles, ambulances, and emergency vehicles, all scooters, automobiles, and other powered or mobility-assisted vehicles are required to take alternative routes. Please follow all on-site traffic signs and directions provided by traffic control personnel.
