Pingtung’s annual aviation event, the “Pingtung 3D Tourism Carnival – 2026 National Model Aircraft and Drone Rally,” kicked off at the Hengchun Airport on May 16. Among the most eye-catching aircraft on display were jet models of the F-14 from Top Gun, the Mirage 2000, the F-104 Starfighter, and the T-6 Texan trainer aircraft. By combining technological innovation with tourism promotion, the Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area Headquarters attracted model aircraft enthusiasts, drone groups, and families from across Taiwan to join the festivities.
The “2026 National Model Aircraft and Drone Rally” also serves as one of the warm-up events for the “Pingtung 3D Tourism Carnival.” Organized by the Pingtung County Government, the carnival will take place from June 12 to June 14 and will feature a series of in-depth experiential activities, including ultralight aircraft riding experiences at the Hengchun Airport and static displays of military helicopters, offering visitors the opportunity to explore the charm of Pingtung in different ways.
The event is jointly guided by the Civil Aviation Bureau and Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, with strong support from the Pingtung County Government and Hengchun Peninsula tourism industry. In conjunction with the “Pingtung Travel GO Festival” running from May 1 to October 31, visitors who spend at least NT$1,000 on accommodations can enter a prize draw for a chance to win a luxury car worth over NT$1 million dollars and many other prizes.
