1,600 cyclists gather up at Dapeng Bay for LAVA TRI

1995

The 2020 LAVA TRI, held on December 5 & 6 earlier on, was attended by many outstanding Taiwanese and Japanese players. In total, about 1,600 of them took part. LAVA TRI is a great example of “promoting tourism in Taiwan through international sports events.”

2021 is the Year of Bicycle Tourism. The Tourism Bureau has recommended 16 different routes by five types. Dapeng Bay is defined as the riverside type, starting at Linbian Train Station and circling around the bay. Visitors may visit Gonghe New Village and Jialian Community along the way.

This year, local businesses also provide canoeing experiences and wetland ecological tours. The bay’s famous bridge-opening shows are also held. The participants of LAVA TRI were encouraged to take part in these events to explore the bay in different ways.

LAVA TRI well presented the bay’s characteristics. The swimming competition was held at the sailing club. The cycling contest took place along the Dapeng Bay Section of the national freeway and the round-the-bay road. The road run was held along the round-the-bay road. The finish line was set at Bayfun Pier, a new popular photo-taking spot. After each competition, delicious local food was served in recyclable plates, for the players to enjoy good food while contributing to environment protection.
