Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area Headquarters & Visitor Center

At the center, visitors not only can get travel advice from counter staff, but also enjoy a film on the bay’s scenic spots. Free wheelchair and walking stick rentals are available. Just present an ID card at the service counter to borrow them. Visitors who need a rest can sit down at the Navigation Café, sip a cup of coffee, and immerse in the views of ebbing and flowing ocean tides. Physically challenged visitors can utilize the exits and entrances in the center first. Feel free to ask for assistance from the center’s staff if needed!

Sunset Bay

Most of the bayside residents made a living on cultivating fish in the early days. But for some time, water pipes from all fish ponds made the neighborhood look messy as they were installed between different water sources and the ponds. It was also difficult to manage the pipes then. Upon planning and negotiation, today, the pipes are nicely arranged and they transport water only from this sunset bay. Hiking trails have even been built near the pond. This area is suitable for wheelchair users to enjoy some breezes under the beautiful setting Sun on a leisurely day.

Qifong Wetland

Qifong Wetland is on the southeast of Dapeng Bay. This 9.5-hectare area is presently used as an ecological detention basin of an artificial processing system in the rainy season. On drier days, it is used to process household and industry (fish cultivation) waste from the Qifong Community. The wetland boasts a diverse avian ecology. Visitors can expect to see great egrets, intermediate egrets, cattle egrets, golden plovers, curlew sandpipers, black-winged stilts, and yellow bitterns rummage for food here.

Dapeng Bay Bayside Wharf (Sailboat Club)

The Dapeng Bay Bayside Wharf (Sailboat Club) is equipped with sailboats, canoes and yachts. A 200-meter long artificial beach by the lagoon allows visitors to enjoy the bay area even more. The fine sands have come from the bay outlet. Blessed with the bay’s geographical conditions, on the beach, winds are many and waves are none—perfect for windsurfing. Sailboat activities that incorporate sports and tourism are held every year from April to June. Other water activities are also promoted so as to increase the Sailboat Club’s presence in Taiwan. Windsurfing trainings, which come with thorough equipments, are provided by professional coaches.

Dapeng Bay Bridge

This is the first scenic suspension bridge in Taiwan set to facilitate boat traffic. Its special three-perspective design makes it look like a giant bird at the front, a rising sail symbolizing the ocean town on the side, and the English letter A from the back. The magnificent bridge can go up to 75 degrees. Highly recommended afternoon bridge-suspension shows and colorful 10-minute evening light shows are available on weekends and holidays. Traffic control is in place when the bridge goes up. Visitors are kindly asked to park their cars in the parking lot under the bridge before going up the bridge to watch the show. It is advised to go to the site some time before the show starts, so to get a good spot. Physically challenged visitors are, however, also advised to go there with some company to stay safe, as the accessible route is a little steep. The show goes on from 19:00 to 22:00 in summer and from 18:00 to 22:00 in winter. The show is only available on weekends and holidays, at 17:00 in summer and 16:30 in winter.
