The White Lighthouse is situated on the southeastern side of Liuqiu Islet, at the western tip of Houshi Fringing Reefs. Built with cement and steel in 1929 during the Japanese Rule, the lighthouse looks like a giant white round column. It is 10 meters tall from the base to the top and its light can reach as far as 20 nautical miles, just so as to guide the nearby boats.
Liuqiu Islet's White Lighthouse was damaged during the Second World War. In 1952, it was finally restored by the government's customs department. Today, at night, one can see the lighthouse sending off beams of light. Quietly the lighthouse makes seamen feel safe and secure.
