There is a lagoon by the east of the port channels and it only takes shape at low-tide time. Seeing the lagoon as “the lake in the back of our homes,” the residents call the area “Houbihu.”
Houbihu is Hengchun’s largest fishery port and it is Taiwan’s first yacht wharf. It can take fishery boats, fishing boats, yachts and fish-viewing tourist boats that are more than 20 tons in size. Sailing, diving and sightseeing activities are held, too. It is an important oceanic tourist area in Kenting.
