Turtle mailbox becomes tourists’ favorite

Since March, 2016, the “sea-turtle mailboxes” have become a popular tourist place. Visitors come to Xiaoliuqiu in southern Taiwan to take photos with them and clock in on Facebook. Two sea turtles, dressed as postmen, rest on the red and green mailboxes. Surrounding them is a school of fish. How cute they are! Giant painting shows love for green sea turtles

Xiaoliuqiu is one of the few islets where green sea turtles can easily be spotted either from the shores or in the seas. Hence, the Administration has recently posted a three-square-meter 3D painting at its work station to remind visitors not to leave any garbage in the ocean, so as to keep the turtles from eating the wrong things and die. “200 Rounds of Ocean Clean-up: All about Our Memories,” an exhibition reviewing the hard work of the Xiaoliuqiu Ocean Volunteers in the last six years, will be inaugurated on Wednesday April 20, 2016 at the Xiaoliuqiu Visitor Center in the Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area. Thanks to the volunteers’ effort, more than 32 tons of garbage was removed from the ocean, and Xiaoliuqiu has become a paradise on earth for the endangered green sea turtles since then.
