Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area

The “2022 Dapeng Bay Marine Festival” international yachting event jointly organized by Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area Administration, Maritime Port Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) and Pingtung County government, starts at the Dapeng Bay Marina on April 8. This year, the festival is bigger than ever after being expanded to include sailing and tours, Yacht Circle parties tailored for yacht enthusiasts, yacht sailing and a one-day captain experience, together with more than 50 music and theater performances and a Pingtung Sightseeing Circle market featuring more than 30 unique and popular street foods. The 10-day festival events end on April 17.

The terrain around Dapeng Bay is characterized by a special lagoon and the goal is to develop the area into a yacht port and the most glamorous marine leisure resort park in south Taiwan. At the same time, cooperation is also ongoing with Pingtung County Government to develop the Pingtung Sightseeing Circle, in concert with local industries to ensure the tourism benefits the whole county. In this way, the focus is on niche positioning and characteristics to create a "locally proud and globally known" Taiwan tourism brand.

Dapeng Bay will become one of the most important centers for marine leisure yachts and sailboats in south Taiwan. It will also link up with yachts marinas in Kaohsiung, Tainan and Penghu to form a regional marine sightseeing belt. In the future, it will also become an entry port for foreign yachts and sailboats.

The Dapeng Bay Marine Festival is an important annual event for Taiwan's yacht sailing industry and one of only a handful of major activities on an international scale. Currently, nearly 20,000 people in Taiwan have a yacht sailing license. In the future, the yacht industry will seek to boost its popularity through more tourism-associated events and by working with other sectors, in the hope of boosting public interest and participation.

The “Pingtung Sightseeing Circle Market” event showcases Pingtung's creative products and offers more than a dozen tours that can be booked online and offline. This year, the number of events has been increased to include rock music and jazz performances, along with dazzling nighttime DJ boats, art installations, light arrangements and the harbor cinema, offering visitors a brand new marine life experience at Dapeng Bay.
